Meet the staff

David Sharp MCSP Grad Dip Phys (HCPC Number: PH37784) (M)

I graduated from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne school of Physiotherapy in 1987 and was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work as 1st team physiotherapist for Fulham Football Club, under the chairmanship of a certain Jimmy Hill.  Following this, I gained further valuable experience through employment in the NHS and private physiotherapy clinics in the North-East of England. During that time, I was involved in voluntary work, with a group of physiotherapists, taking about 20 disabled young adults camping abroad.  After a very fruitful 8 month spell working in The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Out-Patient Physiotherapy Department, myself and a good friend of mine (another physio), decided to set up Active Life Physiotherapy Centre in 1992.  Over the years circumstances change, eventually resulting in myself becoming the sole Director of Active Life Physiotherapy Limited when the business incorporated in 2003.

I have always enjoyed the challenge of all aspects of Musculo-Skeletal Physiotherapy and would like to think that I am now collecting a useful number of physiotherapy tools to help me use the knowledge, that is constantly growing in the physiotherapy world, to help my patients to the best of my ability.  Throughout my Physiotherapy career, I have regularly attended post-graduate courses and kept updated with the latest physiotherapy techniques and developments, in the areas of spinal examination and treatment, lower limb biomechanical assessment and treatment, dynamic stability evaluation and treatment, and sports physiotherapy.  In 2013, I became involved with the Jockeys Injury Management Team, which has given me the opportunity of providing Physiotherapy for the Professional Jockeys on racedays at Fakenham Racecourse, with the occasional filling in job elsewhere in the country.

My outside interests at present are dominated by the rewarding pressures of family life, interspersed with the occasional round of golf, the occasional hillclimb/sprint in my car and a bit of running and cycling to maintain some level of fitness.

Usual Shifts: Monday PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday PM & Saturday AM.

Basanth Angya BSc Phys. MSc MCSP (HCPC Number: PH66144) (M)

Bas's interest in physiotherapy started during his school days,  when accompanying his parents to various therapists for treatment of their neck and shoulder problems in India.  Bas noticed that the most effective treatment received by his parents was through the hands of a physiotherapist.  From this time Bas’s mind was made up, he would like to become a physiotherapist.

After his graduation in 1997 Bas worked in various hospital settings and based on his area of interest he went on to complete a Masters degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia (2000). Following this he worked specialising in treatment of professional footballers and  in an A&E hospital in Singapore which had a purpose built sports rehabilitation centre.  He then became the principal investigator for a research study on spinal stenosis.  Having worked in the NHS at senior level for several years,  Bas joined Active Life Physiotherapy in 2010.  Bas has a special interest in acupuncture and apart from physiotherapy, he enjoys family time and cooking.
